Nevermind.Don't fear. I still had a fabulous time. My oldest kids have worked so hard this summer and it was great to all be on a relaxed schedule. And yes, they ate lots of sugary cereals. In fact, I cleared the shelves of the store brand Lucky Charms. Every. Single. Box. Of course, the kids then fought over who could eat the Toaster Strudel but that is beside the point.
Then, two days later right as we were heading in for the day, the volunteers came by to dismantle the protection they had placed around the nest. They also dug out the egg shells to get a firm count. What else did they find? 6 babies that hadn't made their way out of the nest. Lucky us. We then got to watch them, and photograph them, in broad daylight.
Now we are back and my youngest kids are back to school today. Yes, it is way too early. I'm behind about 2000 posts on my google reader (forgive me if I haven't been by) and my laptop is newly broken.

Oh yikes - computer problems bite. Cute photos of the turtles!! Welcome home!
Welcome Home!! Those little turtles are cute :)
Those turtles are too adorable. Sorry about the laptop. Reality does suck sometimes.
Hatching turtles?! How amazing!!! Sounds like a great time was had! Good luck getting that laptop fixed!
How cool - love the turtles!
Back to school today? Yikes. We still have a few weeks.
Welcome home.
WT heck!!! Broken laptop!!! I have been having my computer troubles off and on too. And...
my darn car kinda broke this weekend. I had to cough up $$ for another car.
So much for paying off my bills!!!
The turtle hatching is awesome, how fun!
Wow, school already? I haven't even filled out my kids' registration forms yet, I'd better get on that.
Welcome back!
We just got back from the beach too but we didn't have baby turtles. How awesome to see their trek to the sea. Don't you wish sometimes it was that easy with our kids? Go along your way to the big blue ocean and fend for yourselves. ha!
Back to school - argh. So not ready for summer to end.
I WANT A TURTLE! DEBBIDEBBIDEBBI CAN I HAVE A TURTLE, I WANT A TURTLE! :D
How cool that you got to see the turtles!
Back to school on August 3?!? Seriously, that is just plain wrong. I hope they get out in early May.
Where I live, if you add up the number of school days off the kids have during the school year, it comes out to 2 months.
I have always wanted to see the baby turtle races. When I firstsaw it on an episode of "The Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" circa 1975, I put that on my must-do before I die list! You are sooo lucky!
Welcome back!
What a thrill to see thise turtles out in broad daylight. That is truly special. I'm glad you got some family time before the grind of the school year begins.
baby turtles!!
Most would say "turtles! baby ones!" and I say "toaster studel! mmmmmm!"
How incredible! I'd love to see those turtles.
Sounds like a great trip.
How lucky to see the turtles!!
How unlucky of a computer.
And yes, every vacation I hate being the Mama.
Welcome back!!!
Why did the turtle cross the road? To get to the other side just so Debbie could photograph it and share it with her readers. Awww, soooo cute! I'm glad you had a wonderful time. It's nice to have you back.
How amazing to be there when those turtles hatched out...such a rare opportunity! Glad you're home safe :)
Where did you go on vacation? Jeykll Island GA. has a big sea turtle population and protection program. My GRANDs love going there and to the beach. Our kids start School on Thursday. I don't even have a dog in this fight but I hate that they go back this early. It sucks!
I love the sea turtles journey. They are really interesting. School already? Summer has flown by.
Welcome back...bummer on the computer probs. How cool are those turtles! Glad the kiddos got to binge on the sugary cereal...in Amish Country at a bulk store they sold bags of Lucky Charms marshmallows...no annoying cereal getting in the way! LOL
Those baby turtles are so cute. I'll bet they don't eat sugary breakfast cereals.
With the misfortunate events that occurred this summer, we didn't get to take a vacation, so I feel like I've been virtually relaxing via news of all of my bloggy friends vacations (how's that for a run on sentence)? Anyhoo- The baby turtles are so cool, neat that you got to experience nature like that. Glad you had a good time!
MMMMMMM...toaster strudles! :)
Welcome back to reality! Thanks for sharing the pics!
Welcome home! Reality does bite, but at least you have the sea turtles to remember!
Welcome back!!!
I am wearing a black armband for your laptop...here's hoping it's on the mend soon...
Those wee turtles are stinkin' adorable!
A must show post to the kiddo's....
Glad you had a great time!
Loved your first paragraph! :)
i hate coming home from a vacation...it's like you need a vacation to recover from the vacation and prep yourself for reality....
make sure you drop by my blog...i've been waiting to hear from you...i think you have a surprise!!!! ♥
Love the pics...and reality is not a warm welcome after a great trip to the beach, is it? LOL.
Welcome home... ever notice that reality bites in proportion to how fabulous your vacation was? ;)
Glad you had a great time!
:) Robin
Sea turtles. Yum!
Welcome home! Love the baby turtles.
Yay for cute sea turtles! I can't believe your kids are back in school already!
I'm glad you had a great time. The turtles are adorable.
Which beach did you go to?
welcome back home...
love your blog..
I'm glad you and the family enJOYed your vacation! And baby turtles - how neat!
Welcome home! Seeing the sea turtles is such a neat experience. You're so lucky. Do they take forever to get anywhere?
If I could have a sea turtle for a pet, I totally would. Instead I feed and water my kids.
welcome home! that stinks about the laptop!!!! loved reading about the turtles. we saw tracks like that and were so surprised to find out what they were.
Oh my gosh, getting to see those baby turtles would be awesome! Lucky you!
Oh the turtles - so sweet ! Sea turtles are my thing ! Since I was a young girl, I have fantasized about being able to climb aboard a giant sea turtle's back, hold on tight and swim through the ocean and get a turtle's eye view of it all...
Back to reality is right ! School at the beginning of August just seems wrong ! Hope yur computer woes are short lived !
Watching the turtles must have been great. I'm suprised their path wasnt kept clear by some PETA types.
Baby turtles hatching! How lucky!! My kids only eat sugary cereal AND toaster strudel on vacay, too! I think they like that better than all the sights and unique activities!
Oh no... your poor computer!
But how great to see turtles hatching... and your kids going crazy on their sugar highs...
How very cool seeing the turtles. But back to school already? I thought August 17, when my youngest daughter starts back, was too early. I remember when school never started up again until right after Labor Day weekend.
How completely exciting to watch the turtles! Once in a lifetime thing, methinks.
Your kids are back to school already???
When we lived in Puerto Rico, our scout camp one year involved going to a protected beach and helping the BLM count the turtles as they hatched. Fabulous experience for my son!
And please tell me you got that picture of the computer off the internet and not off your living room floor, because it's heartbreaking!
AND...kids back in school already? Where do I sign up for THAT little slice o' heaven??
Look at all these comments!
Obviously you were missed by more folks than just me...So glad you had a wonderful vacation! Loved seeing your photos of the baby turles. Ahhhhhh!
Welcome home!
Those are adorable! I've always wanted to see that baby sea turtle migration to the see. It's amazing.
Lucky you!
Glad you had a great time and didn't get too high on all the sugary cereal. :)
p.s. My laptops are broken too. Seriously. All THREE of them. Grrr.
Welcome back to the real world. So very sorry about your laptop. We had two brand new ones crash withing three years so we gave up on them and went back to a desktop. It just got too expensive to keep buying the stupid things.
oh my girls would have loved to see those baby turtles! how cute is that?! i'm so proud of you for showing us your own pix... at least we got to see part of someone's foot... and hand?? ha...
my condolences to you for your computer. reality bites hard sometimes. ouch.
So jealous that you got to see baby turtles! How wonderful. Make my heart sing.
Sad to see the state of your laptop though...that is truly tragic.
:-(
welcome home & I think there should be a vacation from the vacation for us moms.
oh my goodness, how cute are those baby turtles! glad you had a fab trip lady! :)
your poor computer...totally dead!
A week at the Beach sounds lovely.
I'm just back from a holiday, as well. I love your new header, Debbie.
When we were in Mexico this year, we were right down the beach (at Sayulita, maybe?)from a turtle hatching site, but we never managed to see the babies making the trek to the water. You were very lucky.
Welcome home.
Welcome home, it sounds like a perfect vacation.
The baby turtles are amazing!!!!
xo
Welcome back! The turtles are so cute!
The turtles are absolutely adorable! How lucky you are to have witnessed that!
Thanks for dropping by my blog!!! What a neat experience!!! I would love to see sea turtules that is amazing!!! Have fun back in reality! 80)
Sounds like a lovely holiday. I hope that was only an illustration, otherwise your laptop is very broken indeed.
Your kids started school already? Oh Debbie! Say it aint so. That is crazy. We have one more month and I am SO thankful for it. I just am not ready for school at all. Kaish hates it so much. It's very discouraging. I thought he might need to learn in a different environment so I called up the local Friends school. $13,000 a year and some change. Gary said NO WAY. Kaish said he would miss his friends. Since that is a little less than half of what I earn in a year, I guess we won't be going that route. If you think about it, pray for me : ) While you are doing laundry and putting your life all back together : ).
The turtle's are amazing. How lucky that you got to see them. Coming home from a vacation is always an unwelcome dose of reality. :(
Oh, and I forgot to say that I LOVE those little turtles. Love them to bits. So sweet!
i love the pics of the turtles - that must have been so awesome to watch!
thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Oh! you are so fortunate to have witnessed the hatching! I was in the Cayman Islands once and saw them - by the thousands ... such a wonderful event.. congrats!
Glad you had a nice vaca.
Yay! Welcome back! sounds like you had a relaxing time!! ♥
Oh my word -- is that your actual computer in the photo too?!
My kids would have LOVED to see the baby turtles.
1) Reality DOES bite. I''m not living in it at the moment.
2)Those sea turtles are SOOOOOO cute!
3) School started August 3??? That's just WRONG!
I hate when the lappy is broken. It ruins my weeks/days/months...you know those take forever to fix.
That's so cool about the turtles! Once in a lifetime, that! Wish I could have seen it myself!
Aww, what cute little turtles! Thanks for stopping by!
How amazing is that to see the sea turtles make their way to the ocean. Unforgettable. Sounds like you all had an amazing experience. School starts in 17 days for us. It will be a reality check since I have been very lackadaisical on bed time.
I love watching baby turtles. Cute, cute, cute!
WTH happened to your laptop? It looks like something I have wrecked during PMS!
Love the turtles!
Those sea turtles are awesome!
But have you ever been on the beach when the opposite happens? One year a old, dead 800 pound sea turtle washed up on shore during out vacation week. . .
What a stink!!! They had to clear the beach for the afternoon. . .
How lucky to have seen the turtles. And school? Already? I hate when school starts. Two still at home, though? For a while? This will be a different year for you.
I LOVE your turtle pix -- how wonderful to get to see them.
I'm so glad you're back!
Those turtles are seriously cute. I would have been tempted to put one in my pocket. But then...
Sorry 'bout your computer. That totally stinks.
Aw, school already? No fair. For once mine don't go back 'til after Labor Day - I am enjoying it.
Those little turtles are amazing!
Oh how cool to see the turtles! I've always wanted to see those. You're lucky!
And that toaster strudel? I haven't had one of those in ... I don't know how long but MY does it look good!
Those turtles! Oh my goodness, that would have been so cool. Glad you had such a nice vacation - it's great to get away.
Your laptop looks a bit frazzled.:(
That's your laptop? That makes me cry! so sorry.
Welcome back to the real world! The turtle story is amazing. They're cute too...which surprises me.

The baby turtles make it all worth it! I would love, love to see that even once in my life!
that must have been such a cute thing to watch, the baby turtles!!
(kids back in school already? Yikes!!!I'm not ready for it. Mine go back in Sept.)
1) Welcome home!
2) I am craving Lucky Charms
3) AWWWWW...the turtles are so cute!
4) The pattern the crawling turtles leave in the sand reminds me of Maori tattoos...wonder if they're related?
5) PLEASE tell me that last picture isn't YOUR laptop!!!
The beach, Lucky Charms, turtles . . . sounds like great time to me!
I am still in vacation mode myself. It's so hard to get motivated to do anything after you get back from a vacation!
(But it's still nice to take one)
And how cool is that that you got to see the baby turtles! Awesome!
Wow, your laptop really died! So sorry for your lost. The sea turtles on the other hand are so freakin cute. :) Glad you are back.
That is so cool to get to watch the turtles. I hope the people protected them. Usually during the day, birds will get them. Welcome home.
It must have been so cool to see the sea turtles!! Glad you got a nice break. And very jealous!
That's so cool you got to watch the turtles!
That is pretty danged awesome, since those sea turtles are ultra protected and a sighting and photography of them is a rare thing! wow! lucky you!

What beach did you go to? Looks similar to my vacation this year :)
Oh what a great vacation.....hatching sea turtles....such a bonus.
Hope your day today is beautiful.
I would love to take a beach vacation...someday. Those turtles are adorable. Didn't you want to sneak one home?
Your kids start school early, don't they?
Looks like you had some cute little visitors during vacation... So sweet!

I would love to see sea turtles hatch! That sounds so cool! I am glad you had fun. Now go catch up on laundry!
The turtle photo is fabulous!
Sorry about the laptop, but welcome back.
Yes, reality does bite. My kids got back from week-long summer camp a few days ago. I have done 8 loads of laundry so far and I'm still going.
I live in Florida so I LOVE to see those sea turtles. Haven't done that in a couple of years. Too, too cute! ;0)
I know what you mean about keeping up with the reader ... that's hard for me to do when my computer works just fine!
I always need a vacation after my vacations. The company I work for, though, doesn't find that to be a compelling reason to double my paid time off.
We had the same wonderful experience a few times with my husbands family at the family beach house in South Carolina. Unforgettable! Glad you all got to enjoy that.
We had the same wonderful experience a few times with my husbands family at the family beach house in South Carolina. Unforgettable! Glad you all got to enjoy that.
Broken? More like demolished! What happened? One of those 800 pound turtles come along and sit on it? YIKES!
(LOVE me some babies of any kind. Well... Except maybe snakes... And bugs... Shudder.)
Did you get VIDEO of the turtles??
Sounds like an amazing vacation. How awesome that you got to watch the sea turtles. They're so darn cute. I've never seen a sea turtle so tiny. Thanks for sharing your fun time.
Whoa. I am so jealous! Real sea turtle hatching! Wow.
Thanks for visiting my site today!
I LOVE the turtles! So cute. I'm back from my beach trip as well. And I did A LOT Of laundry while I was there...
WELCOM BACK....To reality that is. The SEAT TURTLES were great! How lucky to have had the nest right outside your condo!!!!
OH...and I loved the post of your grandma. It sounded a lot like my dad's years as a young boy. And the curtain around your waist was hillarious! What a great grandma.
Have a good day.
Sandra
Welcome home to the blogosphere, you've been missed. :)
Blessings,
Carolynn
that must have been amazing seeing the turtles!!
I read your first paragraph thinking that here is a woman who knows that a vacation should not come with a kitchen, not even a toaster, and then, reality struck! ;-)
I am glad you managed you relax nevertheless! It does seem awfully early for school to start, but on the other hand, if it takes those little devils, er, angels out of our hands for a few hours ..... who will complain)? ;-)
Awwww the turtles are adorable! What a great experience that must have been to see them make their way!
that is so cool. what a great experience.
I had no idea that they started that small!
Welcome home!
