Just Little Old Super Me

I've been driving quite a bit these last few months since the college kids don't have their own cars. Over the week that included Thanksgiving, I made so many trips back and forth, I can't even begin to tell you how many miles I put on the car or me. I do know the car looks better than I do. Maybe it is time I went in for a little rotation and alignment work for myself. After all that traveling, I had a dream on Thanksgiving. I dream where I started running and found out I could leap for incredible distances in the air. Almost like flying. And my first thought in my dream was how much time this would save me on those college trips. It was my first brush with a super-power and I have to admit that I was more than a little disappointed to wake up and realize that I couldn't almost fly. Well, I don't think I can. Remember that in my dream I found out I could almost fly when I was running. And in my waking life I don't run. So, I guess anything is still possible.

I was surprised flying was the super power I was lusting after. I always thought I'd want to be invisible. Admittedly, I am one nosy person. I assumed that being invisible and being able to snoop around on anyone and anything would be the pinnacle of super power coolness. I have been jealous of Harry Potter's invisibility cloak since it mysteriously appeared on his bed the first time. What a rush - to be able to make yourself invisible but still be able to hear and see what everyone is doing. I have to tell you, that is quite appealing to me.I also loved the movie The Incredibles. I was quite attracted to the idea of being able to stretch myself to any length anytime I wanted. What woman hasn't felt like she is being torn in several directions at the same time? Couple that with the super power of being able to reach your arm into the laundry room to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer while the rest of your body stays in the kitchen stirring the soup. Oh, and your leg is able to stretch over to the back door at the same time to push it open and let the dog out. It probably isn't a coincidence that both Mrs. Incredible and Mr. Fantastic have the same super power. Yes, that stretching one would be nice.Faced with the dilemma of choosing only one super power for life would be a difficult choice. I know, because obviously I have given quite a bit of thought to this. I don't play the lottery so I don't have the luxury of plotting what I will do with those millions if I win. No, the super power jackpot is the prize I lust after.

I'm going with the flying. No wait, maybe just teleportation. Then again, I still like that invisibility thing.
Bummer. Is there a decisiveness super power?

lol. I SO WISH I had an invisability cloak too. Harry's got it made. Lucky little bastard.

I've always thought that my most coveted super power would be to freeze time and everyone else while I ran around and got stuff done. Or just took a nap, who am I kidding?

DMD = decision making disorder
Being unable to make a decision

PDD = post decision disorder
Being unable to determine if you made the right decision

If you have DMD, it's a sure bet you also suffer from PDD.

But even if you only have rare bouts of DMD, you probably struggle with PDD on a regular basis.

We all do :-)

Can I tell you something? I'm invisible, and it's overrated.

Um, maybe? Or, actually, no. I don't think. But, hmmm, there could be. I can't decide.

I would control time. That way, when my alarm goes off in the morning, I'd push pause on time and sleep-in.

I think there's a decisiveness superpower. No, wait, maybe not. Or in that movie . . . No, not that one . . .

Guess I need decisiveness powers too.

When I was a kid, I dreamed all the time that I could fly. But I'd have to run to catch air first. Sometimes I'd run and jump and come back down so I'd have to keep trying. When you're in mortal danger, with a lion on your tail, this is freakin' scarey! Thankfully, I quit having those dreams. Last year.

That was a fun post. Loved it. I used to dream that I was superperson when I was a kid. Saved my family from all sorts of disasters!

I wish I could snap my fingers and be any place I wanted. I would then be able to see everyone.. Have a great day..

Moms do need some super powers but eyes in the back of the head...that is one my kids are convinced I have :) I would love to eat whatever I wanted without gaining a pound.

Flying is the best choice, because you have so much ground to cover, and you have to watch over other people.

I've always thought being invisible would be cool. Oh, the mayhem and mischief I would unleash on the world...mwahahaha. Or maybe just on my big brother. - G

The most coveted super power, being able to eat whatever and staying the same weight I was in my early twenties.
:D Off to enjoy some virtual chocolate. Yummmm.

I wish I had the power of being nude without getting arrested.

Decisiveness - that would be a super power! At least you get to almost fly in your dreams. My dreams are so much like real life I can't even tell if I'm asleep. Make out with Brad Pitt? Sorry, I'm married even in my dreams.

I wish I could twitch my nose like Samantha Stevens and have a clean house. That would be freaking awesome.
I guess I could of chosen to be Paul Lynde's character and been a warlock, but that guy was just too weird, as was Dr. Bombay.
Egads, they were all flipping weird now that I think about it.

Sarah and the Gentlemen said...

What about that super power of being able to multiply yourself. Have one of you driving, one of your writing, one of you cleaning, one of you napping... Then everything could get done at once!

I have been lusting for teleportation for ages!

Pricilla said...

Aaah, seems you want to be a super woman and have it all.
Simple, right?

Melissa Marsh said...

My daughter was just talking about super powers the other day when we caught the tail end of The Incredibles on t.v. She said she wanted the ability to change into any animal she wanted. I thought that would be cool. Me? Hmm. How about the ability to make money grow on trees? ;-)

Amanda @ Serenity Now said...

Hands down, I'd want to be able to fly. I think watching Peter Pan ruined me for it....

Missy said...

Yes, being invisible would be so cool! Flying would be messy! Your hair all tangled, bugs in your face, etc.

oh, if there WERE a decisiveness super power, I'd want that one for sure! I never know how to make up my mind!

i would love wonder woman's invisible jet, but how would i find it in a parking lot? maybe it has keyless entry so i can "bleep" it. wouldn't mind her lasso o' truth either. take care, superwoman.

Tee aka The Diva's Thoughts said...

How can a person realistically choose between teleportation and invisibility? I mean seriously. I need BOTH of those powers and I need them NOW.

WhisperingWriter said...

Teleportation! I want that.

Sandy said...

Wow, tough decision for sure! Teleportation or invisibility would be my choices. If you had teleportation, you wouldn't need to fly, would you?

Alissa said...

I'd like to be able to shoot death rays from my fingers. Not that I want to go around killing anyone or anything, just so no one would mess with me!

I have had the flying dream too! And I would love to be able to move like that!! Here's to super-powers!! May we all attain them soon!!! LOL!!
Happy New Year

I wish you could fly too, but for now it sounds like you are going to do a lot of driving!

I used to dream I floated, but fast.

Wish I could!

i'll take mr. harry p's cloak as well....esp in 2 weeks when i'll be expected in a swimsuit....blah! hahaha....

p.s. i hope you had a merry christmas!! :)

Jenners said...

How about a super power to change your super powers at will?

And I've had flying dreams before but I really just hover about 5 feet off the ground. How lame is that???

kimmirich.wordpress.com said...

Great choice, deb. I always think about that sayn' what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail? Always answered; fly. : )

Lara said...

This is definitely a dilemma.

I like invisibility. But teleportation and/or flying would be pretty great, too.

I don't think I want to read people's minds, though. That would be tiring.

Anything that made housework easier would probably be the best choice. I just don't know what that would be.

Jen said...

I'd like to be super-fast, that way I could zip around getting everything done at lightening speed and then have time to sit and do what I want to do at a nice leisurely pace :)

Anti-Supermom said...

Dude - I thought I was following you already - my error has been corrected ;)

Being invisible would be the best thing many, many days.

Sara @ Domestically Challenged said...

I say, have them all. Life is more fun that way!!

I've always wanted my superpower to be the ability to make others laugh at any given moment.

I want teleportation AND invisibility.

Kathleen @ ForgingAhead said...

You have a super power, silly. You can make people laugh!

Joanna Jenkins said...

Oh yeah-- I'd like that invisibility thing too.

That was a great dream. Mine aren't nearly as interesting!

Cheers.

I'm surprised you didn't mention duplication of oneself (Michael Keaton in Duplicity). You could accomplish your to-do list in no time flat -- no need to fly or stretch yourself then.

I'd like the power to erase wrinkles!

Jeanie said...

I have to admit that I have never contemplated having a super power. I have thought about the lottery, though. I think I would have to choose teleportaion.

Wow Debbie! I have no idea what super power I would want either. That is hard. In the Incredibles the baby Jack Jack has like 10 powers. I think that might be the combination to go with : ) Hope you and your super powerless self have a happy new year!

My name is PJ. said...

I'd like to fly and then be invisible. Excellent combo!

Oh to be invisible... that would be fun. This is fun to think about, your post let my mind wanter.

Hi Debbie, Hope you had a Wonderful Christmas! And hope your New Year is full of (not so much driving)! Ha! I do know what you mean though, since we have moved to the Ft Worth area (last January) I have put way over 15,000miles on my car. I went to work for a rehab that was 75 miles one way, but will start a new job much closer to home in January. Driving just wears me out! Looking forward to driving less. Take care! Hugs***Renea

Hi Debbie. :) To heck with superpowers..... I'd just love to be able to fall asleep the moment my head hits the pillow the way my hubby does. That would be marvellous! I must admit though, like many of us, I've dreamt of being able to fly and it was a fantastic feeling. :D

My superpower would be a keen sense of reason. Then I wouldn't stay up so late every night! :oP

My best, Lynn
*nice to hear from you... and did you change your banner? Or is it just me being tardy to the party?

I'm picking the Invisability cloak. This way I could really figure out what my 16 yr step daughter is up to. *sigh*

Tonight my daughter-in-law was helping me cook dinner, and we were handling a myriad of tasks, plus keeping up with the kids and all, but when we asked, my husband and her husband, (my son), to help out, the tow of them couldn't be bothered to stop their, (very important) conversation to even HEAR us. I looked at her and said, "We are so ABLE to multi-task, while they are not." Why are most Super Heroes portrayed as men, truly women are Super Heroes in the REAL world?

Bridgett said...

I'm thinking the 'makes money just sitting around all day' super power sounds pretty appealing.

Louise said...

I need that decisiveness one for Prince Charming. As for the rest, I think there should be a control panel and we can pick the one we need at the time.
