Staying up late during the summers is a bone of contention between my husband and I, but I will NOT give it up as long as my daughter is around. Like your kids she comes to life after 10:00 and we have some of our best conversations "in the midnight hour." She just came back from a nearly permanent trip to Alabama and I know she plans to move there as soon as she can so these nights

If it weren't for the fact that my husband has to get up early, my kids and I could just switch to Tokyo time and get on with our happy, nocturnal lives. I've been raising vampires for years - up all night, sleep all day - and honestly, it fits my natural rhythm perfectly. But alas, my husband likes me to come to bed with him, so I attempt to keep a more western hemisphere schedule.

I can't last past 10:30.

This is such a touching post, Debbie. Because you're right. No matter the details, the schedules, the frustrations, it comes down to time with our loved ones.

Nowadays, I'm still waking to my husband's alarm..half and hour before we actually 'need' to rise - then a 10 min snooze..... and another 10 mins......... you get the picture, I'm sure! This brings a tear to my eye- I do miss staying up late waiting for my teens to come home! Really. I honestly miss those days. (I do have my surprise 9 year old, so I will have the chance to experience this once again... but I will be so old I doubt it will be as enjoyable).

Last night I was sound asleep by 9:30. I'm pretty sure my teenagers were up til 2am. You're a better woman than I am. Sleep trumps teens every time for me!
